Beginner's Guide

Don't have a file? No problem.

You don't need to know how to design 3D models to enjoy 3D printing. There are millions of free designs available online created by talented designers. Here's a quick guide on where to find them and how to get them printed.

1. Where to Find Free 3D Models

There are several amazing repositories where creators share their 3D designs for free. Here are the top platforms we recommend:

2. How to Download the Right File

Once you've found a design you like, you'll need to download the specific files meant for 3D printing. Look for files ending in .stl or .obj or .step.

  • On Printables: Go to the "Files" tab and download the specific parts, or use the "Download All Files" button.
  • On MakerWorld: Click "Download STL" or look for the "Raw Files" option. Avoid downloading the `.3mf` slicing profiles unless you know what you're doing; sticking to `.stl` is generally safer for uploading to our site.
  • On Thingiverse: Click "Thing Files" to see the list of printable files.

3. How to Use Our Quote Calculator
